Borovetz - Chakur Voyvoda and back

Yesterday we hiked in Rila - my most favourite mountain. We drove to Borovetz, a popular mountain resort and walked the path to Chakur Voyvoda hut and back, a 15 km trail with gradual elevation, broad and fairly easy. The weather was fine, with some clouds and little sunshine, very pleasant for walks. The only downside of this trail for me - it's a wide path in the pine forests and the views to the mountain peaks and slopes are very rare, quite different from the trails to Musala, Malyovitza and other Rila peaks we've climbed.

: Borovetz

: Chakur Voyvoda hut, the final point of our trail

: One of the villas of Sitnyakovo residence, owned by the ex-tzar

: The lift is very popular with mountain bikers

  1. I'm curious, how does one know she needs hiking boots and that walking trails in athletic sneakers aren't cutting it?

    1. Hiking boots provide support for the ankles and have better traction and better isolation. I definitely prefer them to athletic shoes, even no easier trails.
