Borovetz - Chakur Voivoda Hut 2021

It's July again and it is time for Rila. Today was almost a complete repetition of a hike we did last year almost to the date, only then we had Gaby accompanying us and today it was Alex. And since he is much fitter and faster, this year we took the 15 km hike for only 3 and a half hours, including rest and picnic. I've no doubt that if it wasn't for me, lagging behind and taking pictures here and there, he would have made it in less than three hours :)

Just a few pictures from my phone camera - it's so much easier, when I'm not carrying and balancing the heavy DSLR with me.

:The weather today was very hot, even in Rila, with a few clouds, which gathered above us around noon, but no rain or chill. We've been hit by a very hot weather this summer, one of the hottest I remember in Sofia, where we usually enjoy colder and wetter mountainous Julies.

:At Chakur voivoda hut - the final destination of our hike. We had a quick snack here, filled our bottles with water and rapidly headed back.

:Along the trail through the pine forests

Borovetz 2020

The weather in our mountaineous part of the country continues to be prevailingly English - cold(ish) and rainy. Still, yesterday we found a window of mostly dry weather and went to Borovetz, to hike the pine tree trail to Chakur voivoda hut and back. The day was fresh, with a light drizzle of rain on our way back, which made the air even sweeter with a taste of summer flowers and pine needles.
I didn't feel like bringing the DSLR, so photos from the small Sony travel camera

Borovetz - Chakur Voyvoda and back

Yesterday we hiked in Rila - my most favourite mountain. We drove to Borovetz, a popular mountain resort and walked the path to Chakur Voyvoda hut and back, a 15 km trail with gradual elevation, broad and fairly easy. The weather was fine, with some clouds and little sunshine, very pleasant for walks. The only downside of this trail for me - it's a wide path in the pine forests and the views to the mountain peaks and slopes are very rare, quite different from the trails to Musala, Malyovitza and other Rila peaks we've climbed.
