Beaded Phone Case

I tried my hands at beaded knitting again - a beaded phone case. First I chose how I wanted my case to look - black with a light green Greek key ornament. Then I made a chart and bought the beads. The green beads turned out to be too transparent and the ornament is not clearly visible and I don't like the quality of the beads - they are not equal in size and not quite round - but that was to be expected, as they were really cheap.

Then I strung up the beads, following the chart from the end to the beginning, forming a stack of beads (first in - last out). My thread is YarnArt Violet, 100% mercerized cotton, 50 g = 270 m and I used 2 mm (US 0) size needles.

I knit the case flat in garter stitch, placing the beads every other row, only when knitting from the right side.

This is the wrong side - garter stitch, no beads.

I also added soft lining and a small zipper.

And before I knew it - I made another phone case. I'm on a roll, I want to make a few more of these :)))
Here's a picture heavy photo tutorial.

1) Measure the phone. If the width is x and the length is y, cut two rectangular pieces (x+4) by (y+2) for the back and front, one rectangular piece (x+4) by (y) for the front pocket, one small bottom piece (x+4) by (2.5 cm) and two rectangular pieces (x+3) by (y+3) for the flap. For the internal pocket and the lining: one piece (x+4) by (2*y) for the pocket and one piece (2*x+7) by (y+2) for the lining.

2) Add fusible to the bottom, front and back and one of the flap pieces:

3) Cut two corresponding velcro pieces 6 cm long and sew them to the front pocket and the flap piece.

4) Optional - add decorative seams to the front flap piece:

5) Place the two flap pieces facing each other and sew together. Trim the corners.

6) Turn the flap. You can use a crochet hook to form the corners.

7) Press and sew along the edge. The flap is ready.

8) Sew the bottom piece to the two front pieces:

9) Sew the zipper to the back piece. Place the internal pocket face down along the drawn line and sew along the line. Cut the back piece along the zipper edge.

10) Turn and sew on top:

11) Sew the lower part of the back piece and the internal pocket along the drawn line:

12) Turn and sew on top:

13) Sew the back piece to the other edge of the bottom piece:

14) Fix the zipper ends and cut the excess:

15) If the zipper is made of artificial fabric, burn carefully the cut edges with a lighter to prevent fraying:

16) Sew the edges of the internal pocket:

17) Sew the front and the back pieces together, add the flap:

18) Sew the lining and close the other edge:

19) Turn the case face out and close the lining:

20) Insert the lining and sew along the edge. The case is ready:

I made this case for my phone, mostly because I wanted to try a different zipper placement, as I never wear my phone on a belt or on a string, as the children do, and I don't need a string holder to it. Now I'm planning a lighter version of this case, without the pockets. Anyone in need of a phone case :)))) ?

The Second Phone Case

Today I finished the second phone case - I'm getting better with these small cases. It's almost the same as the first one and still far from perfect - there are a few things I would do differently next time. I have a bag of little worn clothes I could recycle - you know how fast teenagers grow, so I'm tempted to make a few more of these, just for the fun of it :)

And I finally made the second set of bedding too - and it's been already slept in (as is probably noticeable :)))

Phone Case Part 1

I made a phone case :) A fairly complicated one, with a zipper and an internal pocket for money, with a second pocket for the metro card, fusible, lining, string holder, inserted bottom piece. I took a few pictures in the course of work, but not enough for a photo tutorial. But just in case and for my own reference, because I have a double order :))), I'm posting them here:

1) These two parts, strengthened with fusible and with the relevant velcro piece attached, make the flap.

 All materials are recycled from old Gaby's jeans (butterfly included) and Gaby's blouse (lining).

The internal pocket for the money, with a zipper. I couldn't find a reverse zipper in any store, so I used a regular zipper.

And the string holder. Gaby insisted on a metal ring, I would have preferred two buttonholes. But the customer's always right :)))

The two front parts of the outer fabric and the back are sewn together. Actually before this one has to add the bottom to the front pieces. I found this out the hard way.

And then I got carried away and didn't take any more process pictures :))) But What you do is sew the back to the bottom, sew the sides, turn the lining and sew it from the outside and voila - the case is ready:
