Navy Blue Burda 6202

My third Burda 6202 blouse this year! I believe this is the sixth short-sleeve version I’ve made for myself from this favorite pattern.

Apart from the fact that I love the fit - and I have tuned the pattern to my preferences to perfection - it's a tiny blouse that requires very little fabric. I often manage to squeeze it out of remnants as a side project.

Thus, out of the 1.8 m navy blue knit fabric, that I bought in July, I made one pair of calf-length joggers, one long sleeve hooded top, this short sleeved Burda 6202 T-shirt and I even managed to combine the leftovers with other knit fabric scraps to make three pairs of lingerie for myself.  I love using my fabric to the last centimeter, especially when it’s this good! This navy blue is not only a perfect match for my complexion, but it’s divinely soft against the skin—a total win-win.

I especially love the puff-sleeve detail on this blouse; it's a small feature with a great effect.

Burda 6202 with Roses

A simple set I made this week for Gaby - raglan blouse Burda 6202 and a pair of panties from the remnants of the fabric. I bought the fabric from a store for Italian textile, where I shop fabrics from time to time and I think it is the same print as this fabric I sеwed for Gaby last year, but in different colors.

I asked for 1 m of the fabric, but when I returned home and washed it, I found that I had only 82 cm. I was of course, a bit upset, but I still managed to make exactly the blouse I had in mind, with a pair of panties, as I had planned it, so all was good in the end and I was even super proud with myself and patting myself on the shoulder for my fabric-Tetris mastery :)

The pattern I used is one I've been rediscovering lately - Burda 6202 raglan top. I made a similar one for myself early in the summer and I soon found, that I did not like the wide elastic, so I replaced the elastic with a cuff and I've been wearing that blouse with preference ever since. So, I thought Gaby might enjoy a similar one as well. It is, of course, another matter when she will get it, but as the pattern is more or less classic, I don't think passing fashion would be an issue.

Black Blouse Burda 6202

As I mentioned, last month I sewed a blouse for my mom, which I haven't blogged. I had a few scraps of fabric left and I decided to make a short-sleeved blouse my myself. I chose a raglan pattern, as in these patterns the front is usually shorter than in t-shirts with set-in sleeves and my scraps of fabric were small.

The pattern is Burda 6202, which was the first pattern I made with my Brother overlocker, using a similar kind of fabric. As I was cutting the t-shirt out of scraps, I had to make a few compromises - the sleeves are cut on the bias and not on the grain and the neckband is made out of two pieces. The latter wouldn't have been much of an issue, if I hadn't made a blunder - I mistakenly attached the part of the neckband with the connecting seams to the front, instead of the back. They are barely visible and I do not intend to mend it, but it does bug me a little, such a silly mistake :(

I was worried that the bias cut sleeves would not sit properly, but their design - short sleeves, gathered with elastic, actually makes this compromise indiscernible, I think.

Following my notes from the first time I made this pattern, I made a couple of mods - I raised the neckline by 2 cm and I shortened the blouse by 2.5 cm. If I could turn back, I would have shortened the blouse even more and used the saved fabric to cut the neckband out of one whole piece, but I can live with it as it is.

Unlike Central Europe, which is in the clutches on an Arctic cold, we are still enjoying ridiculously, blissfully warm weather in February and I was quite comfortable in my short sleeved blouse during this photo session. I did put on my thin fleece jacket for our walk in the park, but there were young people in  short sleeves in the park, so as unusual as it may seem to make and then to wear a summer blouse in February in the Northern hemisphere, it was actually (almost) weather appropriate. Alas, not for long - the Beast from the East, as they call the approaching cold front, is expected to hit us on Friday, with temperature drops down to -10C. Ugh:(
