Pancharevo - Polovrak 2021

Last Saturday was another sunny, warm, almost spring day and we had another hike near Sofia. As we still haven't bought a new car and travel by bus, we decided to take advantage of the fact, that we don't need to return to the car and to try a different route. We chose to traverse the Lozen mountain along a newly marked trail, starting from the Pancharevo lake and ending on peak Polovrak. From the peak we went down to the village of Dolen Lozen and took the bus back to Sofia - a total of 21 km!

: Lake Pancharevo

: The woods above the lake still looked like winter woods, but almost all of the snow had melted under the warm sun last week and the first spring flowers - crocuses and hellebores, and the dogwood trees were in bloom.

Hike info:
Destination: peak Polovrak
Mountain: Lozen
Total length: 21 km
Elevation gain: 580 m
Total duration (plus rest): 6 h
Average difficulty: 6 / 10

Me-made items, worn on this hike:
Husband: boxers, socks, knitted hat in the backpack
I: Plantain t-shirt, lingerie, socks, knitted hat and gloves in the backpack

:I'm especially fond of the pennyworts (Hepatica nobilis)

:The trail passes by or alternatively through several peaks of Lozen mountain. We chose to climb peak Bachul, as we had never been there.

 : On peak Bachul (1150 m)

:We had our picnic here, at the foot of one of our most favourite Lozen peaks - Lanina mogila. We sat on the warm grass, surrounded by purple crocuses and basking in the sun enjoyed our sandwiches and sweet herbal tea.

:Finally on peak Polovrak (1182 m), the highest of Lozen mountain.

:The dogwood trees are in bloom, spring can't be far away.

  1. So nice to see spring makes it way there. I am usually not a spring person but I am kind of welcoming it because of daylight which I'd like more of since I don't start sewing until the afternoon.

    1. I love spring! Although here it is usually a mixture of sun and rain, the longer daylight hours are superimportant to me too!
