Erma and Yablanitza 2019

Strazha, Trun - a Mass Hike

Today husband, Gaby and I took part in the mass hike for the protection of the environment of the Tran region - a very poor part of Northwest Bulgaria, some 65 km from Sofia, with beautiful scenery and scarce population. The mountain of Strazha is rich in gold and uranium, but the prospector, trying to obtain the mining concession, has already brought ruin - poisoned waters and soils and extremely high percentage of cancer in the regions it operates. The hike was a demonstration against the mining concession and a awakening call to the people of Tran, who will have the right to vote on March 26 pro or against the mining of the mountain.

The turn out for the hike was very high, especially given the bad weather during the past week. But though it was cloudy, we were lucky - there was no rain or cold wind and the conditions were very good for hiking.

Withe the elevation the environment changed from early spring to snowy icy winter:

Tran Ecotrail - The Gorge of Erma River

Yesterday we went hiking in the Tran Mountains, in the most western parts of the country on the border with Serbia. The most interesting phenomena in these mountains are the gorges of two rivers - Erma and its tributary Yablanitza. First we went to the gorge of Erma River, along the Tran Ecotrail. The trail is developed very cleverly. It starts from a big clearing at the foot of the gorge, which is a camping and parking place, enters the forest on one side of the gorge, passes the river along wooden bridges twice and goes up to the top of one of the rocks, where from it goes down and closes the circle back to the camping clearing. The whole route took us exactly two hours of hiking.

Опитът показа, че най-добрият маршрут до Трън от София е през Перник-Брезник-Трън. Голяма част от пътя Перник-Брезник е чисто нов път, а останалата част е в добро състояние. Поддържа се прилична скорост и ако не бързате и спазвате ограниченията на скоростта (като нас :)), пътят се взема за час и половина.
Това го разбрахме на връщане, защото на отиване си избрахме с Google maps уж по-кратък маршрут през разни планински селца, и макар че беше много живописно, нежната ни френска кола едва го преживя - дупки като кратери, пълзене с 20 км/ч и горещи молби да не ни се наложи да викаме Пътна помощ.
След като се влезе в Трън, малко след центъра има отбивка вдясно за с. Ломница (има големи табели). Ждрелото е на около 4 км от Трън. Пътеката започва от една широка поляна, използвана за паркинг и къмпинг.

Тръгва като широка пътека, която влиза в гората. Скоро след това се стига до дървени стълби и мост над реката, място за снимки и ахкане. От моста има изкачване нагоре до широк черен път и тунел.

Отстрани на тунела има малка пътечка по скалата, от която се разкрива панорамна гледка към изминатата част от пътеката и езерцето долу.

Тунелът е кратък, но тъмен и се ползва за убежище в жегата от 5-6 крави. След излизане от тунела има една коварна част - широкият черен път продължава напред и много хора (и ние в началото) тръгват по него и всъщност пропускат пътеката. Има табела отдясно на тунела и трябва внимателно да се следи, за да не се пропусне.

Пътеката тръгва обратно надолу към реката, пресича реката по второ дървено мостче и оттук започва изкачването на едната от скалите, разцепени от реката. Качването е натоварващо, но си струва всяка стъпка.

На най-горната част на скалата е направено кръгло ограждение и се разкрива страхотна панорамна гледка във всички посоки.

Най-хубавото на пътеката е, че не се налага да се връщате по същия път. Слизате от върха до долната площадка и се оглеждате внимателно за разклонението на пътеката, по която сте дошли. Пътят за слизане продължава на запад по по-полегата и лесна пътека, която води до по-широк път край къщите от селото и за нула време ви връща обратно на поляната.

Сега е време да извадите одеялата и хладилната чанта от колата и да си спретнете пикник, както направихме ние :)
