Stay Home Card and Lemon Cupcakes

Gaby and her colleagues are missing each other  very much and came up with a cute idea - to cook together virtually. They even made an amusing video of the making of a lemon cake. And this is the card Gaby made for the initiative - the baking of the lemon cake.

My humble contribution to the card - I sewed the curtain :)

And here's the recipe for the lemon cake, which she baked into cupcakes:

• 120 g flour
• 150 g sugar
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp baking soda
• 2 eggs
• 100 g yogurt
• 3 tbsp sunflower oil
• zest of 1 lemon
• 2 tbsp lemon juice

Glaze:

• 150 g powdered sugar
• 5 tbsp lemon juice

Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for about 30 min. Let to cool, glaze and enjoy.

Kirigami Greeting Card

Another kirigami handmade greeting card, which Gaby made for her father's birthday. I love the simple but elegant choice of colors. I should probably try to locate a shop in Sofia selling instruments suitable for kirigami and similar arts, as the cutter from the local stationary shop is of rather low quality and it shows.

And my latest project - a cabled tunic for Gaby. My inspiration for the cable - this knitted dress, but I intend to have only two columns of  the cable on the front and the back on stockinette stitch background. This is yet another weather inappropriate project I start just at the end of a season, so I suspect it will share the fate of other projects cast on late in the season and finished a year later. But we'll see ... :)

First Fimo Attempts

Gaby's BFF had a name's day yesterday and my daughter decided to make her a FIMO necklace. This is her first attempt with FIMO and I think it turned out pretty good. I didn't take pictures of the process, but I'll add the youtube tutorial she used to make the balls. I thought working with FIMO clay was challenging, but for such simple items it is actually easy and I'm inspired to make some FIMO jewelry for myself.
This is the process of baking the clay - on an aluminum foil in an oven at 110 C for 30 min.

Hubby and I left for a hike and I couldn't take pictures of the final version of the necklace and the handmade greetings card that accompanied it, but I'm told the present was a big success.

Handmade Greeting Card

Last week Gaby made this greeting card for her friend, who has a birthday tomorrow. They are both now in Austria at a German language school camp in the Austrian Alps, immensely enjoying themselves, as we were let to know :)))
I was impressed by the techniques she used in creating the card - all learned from the Internet in the course of the day, so I took a few pictures of the card before she packed it for the camp. I'm pretty sure they are far too busy to be reading my blog there and I'm not ruining the surprise, publishing the card a day before it is gifted :)
