My 2025 - Year Review

The year 2025 was, probably luckily, a fairly uneventful year. I was constantly busy, working, traveling, cooking, sewing, but at the same time none of the above was particularly spectacular and thus - stressful.

I bought fabric and sewed a lot during the year, but mostly not very complicated and involved items - lots of t-shirts and blouses, four pairs of jeans, four summer dresses, a hoodie for my husband, a blazer and a sweater with half-zipper for myself and plenty of underwear pieces. The items, that became a staple in our wardrobes, are my long black jeans and my denim blue calf length jeans, Gaby's asphalt jeans and my Metra blazer. The disappointments - my blue jeans with buttoned legs and my pink chiffon dress, both of which have been worn very rarely and with dissatisfaction with the overall feel and look.

Travel-wise -  2025 was the year of the most hikes we've done. But again - most of these were average hikes along known trails. The highlight of the year was our sea vacation in Greece and the spectacular beaches and places we visited there. Among our hikes the most memorable were definitely the climbs of peak Mechit and peak Ushite with Gaby, both new for us trails, as well as our favourite Seven Rila lakes, Rilska Skakavitza, the circular trail around Borovetz and the two circular hikes through peak Kamen del on Vitosha.

At the end of the year review I usually make some plans for the coming year, which very rarely come true:) Still, it is always amusing to come back and read what was on my mind at the start of the year.

Presently I am very much into learning German, so this year I intend to continue my intensive and extensive practice of the language, with an emphasis on training my active use of the language, not only the reading and listening skills, which I've been developing daily this last year. I might even sit for a certificate, but that's not a priority for now.

I also want to hike and travel a lot, no less that last year and even more, with at least one trip to Vienna and another sea vacation in Greece as a minimum. Husband and I have several ideas for 2-day hikes on Rila and Pririn and I hope we'll be able to turn into reality at least some of them. We've been talking about hiking in Austria, so we might do a short hike there, if we visit our daughter this year.

As for my hobbies, I plan to continue actively to experiment in the kitchen, as I've been doing last year - cooking is gradually turning into one of my major hobbies. I also plan to sew a lot - jeans, dresses, hoodies, blazers, trousers and probably a jacket too. I've been eyeing another paint-by-numbers picture and there might be some knitting and cross-stitching too, if I can find my lost mojo.

I hope 2026 would be a peaceful and happy year for all of us. Happy New Year, dear friends!
