Carotina Fingerless Gloves

Pattern: Carotina Fingerless Gloves Free Download
Yarn: Alize Cashmira 100% merino, 50g
Needles: DPNs 3.5 mm
Time to knit: 3 days

Finally!, finally I'm finding a few spare hours to photoshoot and show you my new fingerless gloves. They came out very warm and comfortable and I'm pretty happy with them. I even wrote down the pattern and calculated it for bigger sizes too, because I know that my hands are smaller than the average women size. The pattern incorporates the twisted garter edging which I came upon last month - I think it matches nicely the entire pattern concept.

Borika Gloves

Pattern: Borika Gloves (personal pattern)
Yarn: YarnArt Pure Merino, 100% wool, 50 g
Needle: DPNs 3.5 mm
Time to knit: 4 days

I had more than one ball of yarn left from my Opulent Raglan sweater, so I decided to make a pair of gloves. I've had this idea of the stepwise decreasing mock cables in my head for some time, so instead of following other people's patterns, this time I tried to make my own. I've knitted enough mitts and gloves already and it was actually fairly easy. Of course, some unraveling was also included in the process :)

I've written a very detailed description of the gloves in Bulgarian and I intend to test the pattern in my favorite Cashmira yarn and then write it up in English as well.
Because I really like it :)))

Zerda

Pattern: Natalya by Jody Richards
Yarn: Lanoso Zerda 30% alpaca 70% dralon, 175 m per 100 g
DPNs: 4 mm

You know I had some misgivings concerning these gloves, but now that they are done, I'm quite happy with them. They match my boots perfectly, they are warm and comfortable, they even look good :)

This time I tried a new technique for closing the tips of the fingers - only one row of k2tog, to reduce the stitches to 6 sts. for all the fingers and to 8 sts. for the thumb, and then I grafted the stitches 3 by 3 and 4 by 4 for the thumb. For thick and coarse yarn like Zerda this was the perfect tip closure. And I also switched to 3.25 mm DPNs for the last two rows of the fingers.

Easy Socks

Now I know - shooting your own socks in public is a difficult and embarrassing task, leaving you with standard issue pictures of propped crossed legs in hand knitted socks. Next time I'm using a tripod ... or a husband :)

Pattern: p/hop Socks: Quick and Easy Ribbed DK Socks
Yarn: Ram Rainbow 60 g
DPNs: 3.25 mm

The pattern for these socks is free download from Ravelry, very well written and easy to follow. However, I did knit my socks more than once - because it happened that the size of my legs fell in between the extra small and small sizes - 40 stitches was a bit tight, 45 stitches looser than comfortable. So, having finished the first sock in size small, I rethought the situation and decided to knit the socks with 42 stitches as was the right number for my size and to change the rib to 5 knit and 1 purl. Which meant that I had to knit the first sock once again. But these are short DK socks, so it didn't matter that much. And anyway I knit for fun and quality, not quantity :)

BTW, the color of the socks in the pictures is TOTALLY wrong, I just can't make the camera shoot reds. And that particular combination of dark red, scarlet, purple and orange seams to be far beyond my camera's abilities (or my camerawoman skills :).
