The Stone Forest

Photos from one of the remarkable places we visited on our way back from the Black sea - The Stone Forest. The desert like rock formation is located near Varna and consists of rocks, 5 to 8 m high above the ground and up to 100 m below the ground. The rocks are hollow, filled with sand and the entire area is a natural desert. There are various theories for the formation of the stone forest, but there's no doubt that their origin traces back to 50 mln. years ago, when the area was the bottom of Eocene sea.

I'm so glad we took the detour and walked along the warm and fine sand among the curios stones. The weather was warm, but cloudy and added to the mysterious vibe and esoteric energy of the place.
