Cinnamon Buns
A small recipe I'm adding to my collection, as these proved easy to make and very delicious with the morning coffee (or milk) (or tea).
I always associate cinnamon buns or rolls with Karlsson, who lived on the roof, and when making the buns I smiled remembering his note to Miss Rogg about the insufficient quantity of cinnamon in the buns. So I tried to add enough :)
Ingredients for the dough:
3 1/2 cups flour
7 g dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp soft butter
1 tsp salt
1 large egg
Ingredients for the filling
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp soft butter
I made the dough in the mixer and then left it to rise in the oven at 40C for about an hour. Then I spread the dough into a rectangle approx. 70 x 25 cm, spread soft butter on top and sprinkled with the mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon. Then I rolled the dough, cut it into small slices and arranged them in the baking tin. I put the tin back in the oven for another half hour at 40C for the buns to rise and then baked them at 180C for 20 min.

Rila, Malyovitza 2017
This year we are getting to know Rila better - this is our fourth hike in the highest mountain on the Balkans for the year. We climbed the peak of Malyavitza last autumn and we liked it a lot. It's heavy duty climbing - steep rocky pathways, big elevation, long distance, balanced by beautiful views and the satisfaction of achievement at the top.
River Malyovitza, which starts from the lakes at the foot of the peak, quickly becomes full-watered:
Hut Malyovitza and the peak behind
The valley of Malyovitza river
The biggest of Elena's lakes
Climbing up the path makes visible all the three of Elena's lakes
A view to Rila Monastery from the ridge of the mountain - it's on the other side of the mountain
Husband and I on the top
The views are spectacular and now I know (personally :) some of these peaks - in the distance are the Kalins and Otovitza
The Malyovitza lakes
Down the path back to start of the trail
This mountain bird was very brave and didn't care about tourists at all
The second of the Elena's lakes
Up-close lit by the sunshine the waters of the big Elena's lake looked turquoise
Malyovitza river
The steepest and probably most difficult part of the trail
Last view to Malyovitza in the distance

Cherni Vruh, 2017
Work, work, work, work. As usual, we are too busy in the summer. And in the evenings I'm too hot and too tired to knit or even to sew.
So we hike on Saturdays, to fill in the batteries. Today we started again early and climbed Cherni Vruh on Vitosha from Aleko Hut to the North and then went down South-east to Kupena hut and back to Aleko hut. An energizing four and a half hours hike and this time we had Gaby with us to keep us company.
Moon over the moraines
On Cherni Vruh, Vitosha's highest (2290 m)
The plateau around the peak
Hummingbird moth
Peak Kupena
The jagged rocky walls of Goliam Rezen
The lone cypress tree

Harbor Garden Puzzle
My second Sung Kim puzzle I bought from the sale. I thought I'd keep it for later, but we've been hit by the Lucifer heat wave and assembling puzzles seems the only one of my hobbies I can pursue while I'm slowly melting :)
Puzzle: Harbor Garden by Sung Kim
Brand: Anatolian, 1000 pcs.

Vitosha, Kumata-Zlatnite
A very light and short hike on Vitosha from Zlatnite to Kumata - Edelweiss - Zlatnite. We started very, very early as Alex (a very rare exception) was with us and he wanted to hike in the cool of the morning. A few pictures of Vitosha in August:
