July marks the beginning of the season of wild strawberries and raspberries. They are small, difficult to pick, as they often grow together with nettles and other thorny plants, but the pleasure of eating the ripe and aromatic berries right from the bush is worth all the blood, sweat and tears.
Mid-July we climbed, for the second time this year, one of our local peaks - Dupevitza in the Lulin mountain. Not only did we enjoy the sunny weather, beautiful scenery and the sweetest and most aromatic wild strawberries we have ever found, but we also came upon several raspberry bushes, that were already ripe and in enough abundance, so that, after filling our stomachs, we picked about 600 g and made four small jars of wild raspberry jam at home.
