Zlatnite - Cherni vruh

A few pictures from our hike on Vitosha last Saturday. We climbed Cherni vruh again, but from a different starting point and along a longer and steeper track. This hike was also an opportunity to test our new travel camera Sony - it lacks the high definition and quality of the DSLR, but is so-o-o much lighter and smaller and on long mountain hikes that's actually a major feature. It also has a few other cool features like panorama views and bigger zoom. Not bad for such a small camera.

Peak Ibur, Rila Mountains

On Saturday husband and I climbed peak Ibur (2666 m) on Rila Mountains. We were together with the FB climbing group we join sometimes, we even got the group bandanas (pretty useful things, it turned out).

From Sofia we drove to Belmeken dam and athletic base, where we left the cars and began the hike.

The weather was hot, but cloudy and the climb was difficult and very steep most of the times. The cumulative elevation gain for this hike was 610 m.

The Tooth Peak (Zubcheto)

After the Tooth the trail passes through one of Rila's high plateaus - my most favourite part of the hike. The views were amazing!

Peak Ibur. The climb was again quite steep and intense

Sort of a panoramic view of the peaks around Ibur

Almost on top with a view to lake Ibur at the foot of the peak

Feeling on top of the world

A short rest, some lunch and down the same path back to Belmeken. The way down is so much easier!

A look back at Ibur Peak again

A herd of horses

Dam Belmeken again. In the afternoon the clouds dispersed and the sun was shining over the peaks

Blue Miette

A quick photo session in the nearby park of the very cropped Miette cardigan I knit for Gaby.

Pattern: Miette by Andi Satterlund
Yarn: Schoeller+Stahl Limone Color, 100% mercerized cotton, 50 g / 125 m, 165 g total
Needle: 3 mm, 3.5 mm
Time to knit: one month

A very tiny cardigan, made to feature the big flowery buttons Gaby got as a present from a teacher. I love how it combines with her blue sundress, I hope it will go well with other items in her wardrobe too.

The yarn is new to me, but I'm not completely satisfied with it and will not use it again. It is not well mercerized and the thread feels weаk and given to shedding. I hope the cardi will not be worn out too soon.
